The energy of our thoughts and words

It is said that we all dream, every night, whether we remember it or not.  My father insisted he never dreamed.  He had some major operations in the 1950's and never dreamed again after that.  He used to tell me they had taken out his "dream box"!  

Usually, when I am going to sleep, I set an intention to sleep well and not to have my dreams disturb me.  This works beautifully, when I remember to do it!  When I forget, I usually wake with memories of having been all sorts of places and sometimes they linger in my thoughts and feel unfinished.  

The other night I had a dream.  As dreams usually are, it was confused.  All sorts of random people and places were popping up.  I remember bits of it but the main part that stayed with me was during the dream I was talking rudely about someone.  This is a real person and I was sure that I had let go of my anger at her in real life, but I seem to still have some work to do.  In the dream, I was telling someone else how wrong this lady had been in a particular situation.  Then I realised that she was listening.  I did a lot of thinking (in my dream) about whether I was right or I was wrong.  Did I care that she heard me or was I bothered that I would have upset her?  It was a strange dream to wake up from and it stayed with me for a few days in the back of my mind.

I really believe in the energy of our thoughts and our words.  What we say to ourselves and others affects both us and them on some level.  There is a fine balance between speaking your truth and realising that your truth may not be as true as you think...which brings us back to the principle of "Will I be kind or will I be right?".  I also believe that the energy of what we say about other people affects both them and us.  The energy of anger, in particular, can affect the other person even if they do not consciously know you are angry with them.   Anger is something that we need to let go of as soon as we can.  Tapping is a great tool for this.  

I had an interesting experience with this a few years ago.  I was on an tapping workshop for a weekend.  We were practicing on helping someone who was not there.  My mother was very stressed at the time and I focused on her and tapped using her name and destressing her.  I was also tuning into what was coming up for her in my mind.  I visited her about an hour later and she was the most relaxed I had seen her in ages.  It was fascinating.  Obviously, she had to be subconsciously open to the idea of accepting the energy of relaxation or it would have had no effect.  We all have our own free will.
