Let Your Day Grow From the Inside Out
There’s a quiet assumption we often carry into a new year, or even into a new day, that if we plan well enough, think clearly enough, and organise ourselves properly, everything will fall into place.
And don’t get me wrong, I love planning. I love visioning. I love feeling into what I’m calling in for the year ahead, or the week ahead or even the day or hour...minute might be overdoing it! Nearly every morning, I begin my day with channelling Light Language for myself or others, gratitude, and some automatic writing with my guides, the Circle of Light. From that place, I visualise my day as an energetic flow. When I start here, my day doesn’t feel as hard, it feels possible.
But here’s what I keep noticing...when my energy is low, or when I give a situation a meaning that drains me, everything feels harder. Not because life has suddenly changed, but because my state has.
When Nothing Is Wrong… But Everything Feels Hard
A perfect example for me is grocery shopping.
I like to go early in the morning. Sometimes that means I head out before I’ve done my full morning ritual. I come home, my husband James and I make tea, unpack the groceries together, have a little chat, and then I head to my desk to begin the day. I try to only grocery shop on the days he is home so he can carry the bags in!
Completely normal. Full of love. Nothing dramatic.
And yet, if I’m not conscious, a story can sneak in when I sit at my desk.
Suddenly my mind decides I’m late. That there’s no time left. That the day is already behind. That it’s going to be difficult.
Which is, quite honestly, nonsense because it’s usually not even 9am.
Nothing external has gone wrong. But the meaning I’ve given the moment drops my energy, and frustration is usually the first thing I feel. From there, everything feels heavier than it needs to be. I can almost sense myself deciding the whole day is gone...
The Same Day, A Different State
On the heavier days, when I catch myself and choose differently, everything shifts.
I pause, do my ritual, reconnect with gratitude, and remember to check in with myself, the day opens again. The same tasks feel easier. Time feels more spacious. Ideas flow. My energy builds.
We live our lives from the energy level we are at in each moment.
The same day, the same circumstances, the same to-do list, entirely different experience depending on the energy we’re bringing to it.
FRED: A Touchstone, Not a Rule
This is exactly where my FRED scale (Feeling Radiant Every Day) comes in for me.
I don’t use FRED to judge myself or to try to feel “high” all the time. I use it as a touchstone. A moment of honest awareness. A moment to come back to myself.
Where am I right now?
And if I notice my energy is low, I don’t analyse it. I do something.
I wave my arms. I bounce in my chair. I make myself laugh. I move my body just enough to shift the energy.
That small moment of awareness and movement is often all it takes to lift me back into a state where choices feel easier and life flows again.
There Is No "Getting It Right" we are not here to be perfect...
This is something I really want you to hear.
There is no perfect routine. No ideal morning. No way to do life “right.”
I still have challenges. I still catch myself in unhelpful stories. And I still have days where my energy dips. But it is the catching myself that makes all the difference, and the sooner I catch myself the better.
Rather than making decisions from frustration or pressure, I pause and move higher on the FRED scale. Usually, because I have been doing this for ages, it only takes a minute and usually it is something really silly I am telling myself about not doing something perfect! From there, clarity comes naturally. Not because I’ve forced it, but because I’m aligned again.
Light Language supports me here too. Sometimes I channel it for myself, sometimes I rewatch one of my Awaken videos. It helps me return to myself without needing to think my way through anything.
An Invitation to Begin With Awareness
If this resonates, I’d love to invite you to explore FRED and his free scale for yourself.
FRED isn’t about changing who you are. It’s about noticing where you are, and choosing from there.
When you sign up, you’ll receive the FRED pdf, which includes the scale itself along with lots of tips and practical support to help you shift your energy when you notice it’s low.
It’s a simple practice, but it’s a powerful one. Because when your energy comes first, your day doesn’t need to be managed, it unfolds.
Gentle Reflection
Before you make a decision or take action, pause.
Notice where your energy is right now. Lift it in any small way that feels good, then choose from there.
