Discernment: The Secret Ingredient to Joyful Living 🌟

I love the idea of following joy. I have been talking about it, writing about it, and living it for the last few weeks. I am lucky my life is full of joy. But here’s the thing: not everything that looks like joy actually nourishes us...sometimes loads of chocolate cake only bring momentary joy and later tummy pains!
This is where discernment comes in. Discernment isn’t about judgment, or labeling something as right or wrong. It’s about tuning into your inner compass and feeling the difference between a quick spark that fades and the deeper hum of joy that expands your whole being.
Discernment asks us to slow down. To listen. To have patience with ourselves as we learn to trust what feels light, aligned, and true. Because joy that lasts isn’t rushed—it’s steady, radiant, and anchored in who you really are.
Recently, I visited a doctor. By all accounts, he was very good at his job. But something felt off. His energy didn’t match mine. I could sense he wasn’t the right fit for me. It wasn’t about him being “bad”, he simply wasn’t aligned with where I am right now, the energy was off. So, even though logic said stay, discernment whispered: choose again. I my end up staying with him for a while but at least I explored the options and I know the right path will pop up for me.
This is the subtle but powerful role of discernment. It’s not about dismissing others or making them wrong—it’s about being true to your own alignment. And when you act from that place, you naturally create more ease and light for yourself and those around you.
There are all sorts of ways to connect to your discernment, your inner knowing. They all start with connecting with yourself and your beliefs and values. I love affirmations but just like with that doctor, sometimes affirmations look good on the surface but they don’t resonate inside. You repeat the words, maybe even feel a little lift, but then your mind jumps in with the opposite story. “That’s not true.” “Who are you kidding?” It can feel like a tug of war. Affirmations can create a moment of brightness, but if the conscious mind resists, the shift doesn’t stick.
Affirmations are wonderful. They can be beautiful reminders. But they don’t always bypass the mental static. And that’s why people often walk away feeling like they must be doing it wrong. They're not, it is just that your mind and energy need something added.
How Light Language Changes the Game
This is why I love Light Language and why I wove it into my Awaken Your Light Programs. Unlike affirmations by themselves, which engage your conscious thoughts, Light Language speaks directly to your soul. It bypasses the mind and clears old patterns that keep you stuck in resistance.
In my earlier writing, I’ve shared how growth doesn’t need to be hard or heavy. Shifting your energy should be playful, light, and even fun. That’s exactly what Light Language does—it moves energy without all the effort. Listening for just a few minutes a day, paired with affirmations and you’ll notice things shifting almost effortlessly: beliefs dissolving, self-worth strengthening, intuition getting louder.
Joy, Patience, and Self-Trust
Discernment and joy also ask for patience. Sometimes we don’t see the full picture right away. Sometimes the choice isn’t clear until we pause and breathe. Joy isn’t about chasing excitement—it’s about honouring what feels alive and expansive, even if it unfolds slowly.
At the end of the day, as you lay down at night, the deepest joy comes from having trusted yourself today. From knowing that you’ve honored your intuition and stayed true to your light. It’s the joy of self-trust, of following the luminous thread of your own soul.
