Allowing the World to Be Without Losing Yourself

I was listening to Gregg Braden’s The Lost Gospels recently, and one idea connected so clearly with this month’s theme of allowing. He spoke about not allowing the events of the world to change who we are. It feels like something we all need reminding of, both on a global level and in our own personal lives.

Life will always give us things to respond/react to. There will be conversations, opinions, unexpected moments and circumstances we cannot control. The question is not whether we will be affected by life. We are human, and of course we will have feelings and reactions.

The question I have been reflecting on is whether I can allow life to happen around me without allowing it to pull me away from myself.

This is something I have become much more aware of over the years. I feel very lucky to be at a stage in my life where I know who I am. I know what feels true for me. I know the energy I want to bring into the world, and I have learned how to recognise it quickly when I have moved away from that place.

FRED has been a big part of this awareness for me. Before I meet people or step into situations, I often check where my energy is. It gives me the opportunity to choose how I want to show up rather than simply reacting to whatever is happening around me.

Of course, I still have moments where something someone says or something that happens can trigger a reaction. I am human! The difference now is that I usually catch it much faster. I can take a breath and come back to myself before I respond.

Even something as simple as writing a message can become a moment of awareness. Before I send something, I can pause and ask myself, “Do I like who I am being in this message? Does it feel like me? Am I communicating from my own energy, or am I simply reacting to what has happened or what they said?"

That small pause can change everything.

For me, allowing is not about accepting every situation or agreeing with everything around me. It is about allowing myself to remain connected to who I am while life continues to unfold all around me in all sorts of ways!

Other people will have opinions that I can agree or disagree with. Things will happen that I would not have chosen. The world will continue to change. I can care deeply about all of this while still remembering that my energy belongs to me.

This is where soul wisdom becomes so important. Beneath my thoughts, my emotions and my reactions, there is a deeper knowing of who I am. When I reconnect with that part of myself, my choices become clearer and I feel more aligned with the person I want to be.

One of the things I value most now is going to bed feeling happy with who I was during the day.

That does not mean every conversation went perfectly or that I handled every moment exactly as I would have liked. It means I stayed connected to myself as much as I could. I showed up in a way that felt true. I noticed when my energy shifted and I chose to come back.

That feels like a beautiful way to measure a day.

This is also why I love the work I do with clients. I know how freeing it is to truly know yourself and trust your own wisdom. My sessions create a space where people can reconnect with that deeper part of themselves, see their patterns more clearly and make choices that feel more aligned.

Allowing the world to be does not mean losing yourself within it.

Perhaps the question to carry with you today is: Who am I choosing to be in this moment?
